Skilled Trade Scholarship

Purpose

Pulaski White Rural Telephone Cooperative (dba LightStreamTM) is a non-profit corporation that was established in 1954 to provide telephone service to portions of Pulaski and White Counties. LightStreamTM is now the premier broadband provider in the area with a fiber optic network that offers gigabit internet. An integral part of our staff is made up of talented field technicians who often attend a trade school for telecommunications.

LightStreamTM will award a scholarship of $2,000 to one student attending Lincoln Trail College within the following school districts:

  • North White
  • Pioneer
  • Twin Lakes
  • West Central
  • Eastern Pulaski
Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a state-accredited high school or home schooled graduating senior
  • Applicant's parent(s) or legal guardian must be a customer as of the beginning of current school year and are a current customer of LightStreamTM
  • Become a student attending Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois
How to Apply
  • Complete the scholarship application
  • Attach copies of high school transcripts or equivalent
  • Submit a 1-page essay that describes your education goals, the importance of this scholarship, and what your next 10 years may look like.
  • Attach a senior picture. Scholarship winners will be published.
  • Submit all items by email to HR. Only digital applications will be reviewed.
  • Deadline to submit is March 31, 2023
Award Procedure
  • Winners will be selected by the Board of Directors
  • Scholarship presentation may be at the applicant's school awards program
  • The LightStreamTM Board of Directors reserves the right to withhold any or all scholarships
Payment of Scholarships
  • Awarding of payment of $1,000 will be submitted to LTC after proof of 1st semester completion and proof of 2nd semester enrollment
  • Payment of second $1,000 will be submitted after proof of 4th semester enrollment
  • Applicant must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher or be in the top 50% of the class
  • Applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a professor to obtain 4th semester payment.
  • A W-9 form will be submitted to the applicant in the year it is paid.

Applicants Must:

  1. Complete the application
  2. Attach copies of high school transcripts or equivalent
  3. Complete the essay
  4. Attach a senior picture
  5. Submit by March 31, 2024
