LightStream offers a low income assistance program, called Lifeline Assistance, to help low income families afford landline telephone service or broadband Internet service. To be eligible you must meet the low-income eligibility criteria established by the Federal Communications Comission (FCC) and live within the LightStream service area. To be eligible for this program a customer must be a participant in one of the following programs:
- Medicaid
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Federal public housing assistance of Section 8 (A Federal Housing Assistance Program administered by the Department of Urban Development)
- Veteran’s or Survivor’s Pension Benefit
- Threshold of 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (FPG)
Lifeline Assistance reduces an eligible customer’s monthly Local Line Charge or Broadband Internet Package by $9.25. The Broadband Internet Package must meet the minimum service standards with a speed of 10/1 Mbps or higher and a usage allowance of at least 150 GB per month. Exceptions do apply in limited circumstances. Please contact LightStream for details.
