  • Users may choose to add the last calling number to the list even if the number was anonymous (the caller chose to withhold their number). At no time are anonymous numbers revealed to the subscriber in the menu system. Instead, there is an announcement such as: “the service is active and there are 2 anonymous entries on the list”.

Call Waiting

Never miss an important call while you or a family member are already on the telephone. If you select this feature, you do not need to program your telephone. The feature will automatically work for you. When you are on the telephone and another call comes in, a tone will alert you of a call waiting. You will hear this tone, but the person to whom you are speaking will not. A reminder tone will be heard in 10 seconds if the call waiting remains unanswered. The caller who is waiting to be answered will not know you are speaking to someone else. That person will hear a normal ring tone and will be waiting for you to answer the telephone.

  • To answer the second call, depress the switch-hook or receiver button for about 1 second to place the first call on hold. You will automatically be connected to the second caller.
  • To alternate between calls, depress the switch-hook or receiver button for about 1 second. Each conversation is private and cannot be heard by the other
    caller.
  • To terminate either call, simply hang up.
    • Your telephone will ring, and when you answer, you will be connected with the other caller

If you have dial-up internet and you are using it, you may not know that a caller is trying to reach you, but that caller will continue to hear the telephone ringing as if your phone is not busy.

Cancel Call Waiting

Since the Call Waiting feature is automatic, if you want to disengage it for a time, you must program in this feature. This feature allows important calls to go on without interruption.

  • To use Cancel Call Waiting before calling (or before accessing dial-up internet), get a dial tone, dial *70, then dial the number you wish to call.

  • To deactivate Caller ID Blocking for individual calls, get a dial tone, dial * 82, then dial the number you are calling.

You may choose multiple lines to receive the rollover calls. You need to tell the LightStreamTM office which numbers to include for this feature.

This service could apply to any family member, to a business or to a fax machine. It allows you to have 2 numbers on one line with a distinctive ring on each.

  • To use Distinctive Ring, wait until the full ringing pattern is complete before answering your telephone, so you will know which telephone number was dialed.
    • The main telephone number will have one long ring, your normal ringing pattern.
    • The secondary telephone number will have two short rings.
    • A fax machine with a distinctive ring feature will detect the different ring tone and accept a fax.

Simultaneous Ring

number is called.

  • To use Simultaneous Ring, get a dial tone, then dial * 55.
    • The system announces whether this feature is on or off.

  • Again, listen for the dial tone.
  • For Speed Calling 8, dial one of the one-digit access code numbers (2 through 9). For Speed Calling 30, dial 1 of the 2 digit access codes (20 through 49). Dial the number you wish to program. (For long distance entries, dial 1 and the area code before the number.)
  • Press #.
  • Listen for the confirmation tone to indicate your Speed Calling number is established.
  • Repeat this process for each number you wish to program, assigning each a different code number.
  • To use Speed Calling 8 or 30, get a dial tone, dial the appropriate 1 or 2 digit access code, then press #.
  • When changing your Speed Calling list, the new number automatically cancels out the corresponding existing number.

3-Way Calling

Turn an everyday 2-way telephone call into a 3-way conversation.

  • To use 3-way calling, place your existing call on hold by depressing the
switch-hook or receiver button for one second.

    • Dial the third party.
    • When the third party answers, you may talk privately before completing the
      3-way connection.
    • While keeping the third party on the line, depress the switch-hook or receiver
button for a second to add the holding party. Your 3-way call is now in
      effect.
  • If the call to the third party is not completed, depress the switch-hook or receiver button twice to get back to your first call.
  • To disconnect the third party while the 3 of you are still connected, depress the
switch-hook or receiver button for about one second. You will now have only your
    original party on the line.
  • To disconnect completely, simply hang up.
  • If either of the 2 parties hangs up, you can continue to talk to the party remaining

Warm Line

  • If you cannot communicate, your Warm Line contact will know you need assistance.
  • The Warm Line feature will not interfere with regularly dialed calls as long as calls are dialed within the 30-second time interval. After you hang up, you will have regular service again.
  • Test your Warm Line feature regularly to remind your contact of your Warm Line arrangement.
