LightStream to Bring New Fiber Network to Winamac

Bringing the fastest Internet speeds to the area

Buffalo, Indiana – April 24, 2017 – LightStream is excited to announce that it will expand its high-speed fiber Internet network to Winamac. Engineering crews began staking out the fiber network route in January of this year. The expansion will deliver broadband Internet speeds of up to 150 megabits per second (Mbps) to nearly 800 homes and businesses. Coverage will extend north from 100 South to 11th Street (State Road 14) and east from County Road 75 West to the Tippecanoe River. The new network will also extend down portions of Old State Road 14 and south to 100 South, including the area around Riverside Rentals. Already offering the fastest Internet speeds in Winamac, LightStream looks forward to delivering even faster Internet speeds, along with more reliable service and other new services.

“When we acquired Zing in July 2014, we made a pledge to invest in the community and to expand the area’s broadband options with our high-speed network,” explained President and CEO, Mark Dickerson. “Early in 2016, we implemented upgrades that increased the available Internet speeds to 50 Mbps. This new construction furthers that promise and our commitment to the Winamac community by making available lightning-fast Internet speeds, more robust entertainment and TV service options, and voice service.”

Current LightStream customers will be automatically signed up to connect to the new fiber technology that will deliver the fastest Internet speeds and most reliable connections in Winamac. The network will also enable a new TV platform that features an array of tiered programming choices, advanced set top boxes, Video-on-Demand and Pay-Per-View services. LightStream will also continue to offer high-quality phone service with advanced calling features. Homes and businesses that are not yet LightStream customers will have the opportunity to connect to the network free of charge and with no obligation to subscribe.

The Winamac upgrade is part of LightStream’s long-term investment and expansion plan to bring the same level of communications and entertainment services found in metropolitan areas to Northern Indiana. “High-speed Internet access is critical for economic growth, and improving the quality of life in our communities,” stated Dickerson. “We are proud to carry on a 64-year legacy of providing the latest communications services, and we will continue to work to bring the services our customers need, at affordable prices.”
