Bringing improved network performance to all.
Buffalo, Indiana – May 5, 2017 – LightStream is thrilled to announced it will undertake a major upgrade to its core network during the month of May. The upgrade is an important part of the company’s long-term commitment to invest in a future-proof network that will deliver the latest services to its customers. The improvements involve switching out existing network equipment with new hardware that will expand the network’s capacity by 10 times and will enable LightStream to deliver cutting-edge services well into the future. The company is taking measures to ensure a smooth transition and plans to implement the hardware exchanges during the week of May 15.
“Over the past several years, LightStream has experienced dramatic growth in its network traffic,” explained Interim President and CEO, Brent Gillum. “Our customers are using more capacity than ever before, and we have also expanded our network and added more customers. We are making this critical investment to meet this growing demand and keep our promise to deliver faster, smarter, better Internet, entertainment and voice services for years to come.”
The upgrade will be completed in stages and the work will occur during the early morning hours, when the network sees the least amount of usage. Throughout the week-long implementation, customers can expect outages between the hours of midnight and 6 am that will last between fifteen minutes to an hour. Gillum added that, “LightStream understands that an Internet connection is important to our customers’ daily activities and our team will work during the night to minimize disruptions. We appreciate our customers’ patience as we implement these upgrades to improve their services.”
The core network upgrade is part of LightStream’s long-term investment and expansion plan to bring communications and entertainment services found in metropolitan areas to northern Indiana.
