The acquisition of Monon Telephone Company, Inc. (Monon, IN) by LightStream (Buffalo, IN) has now been approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The initial announcement was made on December 1, 2023. Monon Telephone Company will conduct business under the operation of LightStream effective July 31, 2024.
“There are a lot of steps to this type of acquisition, and we couldn’t be more excited,” says Brent Gillum, LightStream CEO. “One of the first improvements is significantly increasing the bandwidth into the Monon service area for a considerably better internet experience.”
LightStream has connected the two networks and will have a speed increase into that area within the first few days of operation. Customers will stay on their same service packages, but the overall throughput will allow each customer to maximize their data traffic.
“We’ve been neighbors and friends for decades, and we hope the town of Monon is as excited about this as we are,” says Josh Bowsher, LightStream Board Chairman. “The Hanway family was instrumental to connectivity in Monon for over a hundred years. We want to thank them for everything they’ve done.”
Monon customers will be contacted by mail about their new service with LightStream. Any questions can be directed to the LightStream office at 574-278-7121.
